April is Stress Awareness Month!

Nobody desires to be stressed, but it happens to the best of us. Stress is not good for our health. It can cause a range of health problems from anxiety to skin and heart problems, and even knock down our immune systems. Below are a few ways Ulrich Orthodontics employees have found to help alleviate stress, and stop some of the day to day stress in its tracks if possible! (We do understand some stresses are unavoidable)

  1. Know it will get better. Look beyond the stress and identify less stressful things in the future you can look forward to. (i.e. trips, social activities, fun shows or movies to watch)

  2. Don't give stress the time of day! Tell yourself that you're going to conquer it and feel better! Mind over matter.

  3.  Help someone else. Moving focus from what is stressing you to being able to make someone else happy helps alleviate stress. Acts of kindness have an amazing way of lifting our spirits and those of others.

  4. Laugh! Laughter is the best medicine and might even take your mind off stress for the short-term.

  5.  At the end of the day, list five things that made you happy today.

  6. When you wake up in the morning, start your day off with five intentional, positive thoughts. It can help set your perspective for the day.

  7. Exercise! Studies have shown exercise to be as and more effective than depression and anti-anxiety medications.
